If the Lord provides — Loomis this fall

Overview

Where We Are, and How We Got Here

About a year ago we moved into our current rental and began studying through Nehemiah. In that time God has grown the fellowship — people are getting saved, baptized, children are being dedicated, and marriages are thriving. Every Sunday and Wednesday a faithful crew sets up and tears down. As our leadership team looked ahead and prayed, we began the search for a permanent home.

After months of searching and cold-calling, a small church answered: yes, we are selling. Four acres of land. As of May 6, 2026 we have a signed contract. We are calling this season the Joshua Initiative — because Joshua was called by God to go into a place he could not possess without God doing something. That is exactly where we are.

Why a Home?

We are grateful tenants and we are not complaining. But a great deal of ministry happens when a church has a home — schools, VBS, weekday discipleship, hospitality. We also want to be financially wise stewards. If we must pay rent, we will. But if the Lord opens a door to a home, that is the door we want to walk through.

Two Possible Tracks — Now One

Track 1 — The Track

Foundry purchases the property

Foundry buys the four acres outright, installs a commercial tent for immediate worship, and builds a permanent facility as the Lord provides. Legacy (a classical homeschool co-op) would meet on the property with us indefinitely. On July 12 the board confirmed: if we take this property, Track 1 is how we take it — Foundry Bible Church alone.

Track 2 — No Longer an Option

Co-ownership with a donor and school

An unsolicited donor offered to build a church / school facility on the property in partnership with Foundry and a local Christian school in addition to Legacy. It was a generous offer — but with the property loan in place and the down payment nearly raised, the board decided on July 12 that the Lord has already provided enough. We will not be partnering with the school on the purchase.

Three Miracles Needed for Track 1

1

Cash Down & Setup

$176K to go (goal was $1.2M)

This is for the down payment plus a commercial tent, parking, landscape, and utility hookups so we can meet on day one. The number keeps going down — costs have come in over $200K lower than planned, and the lender behind the property loan has extended the opportunity to borrow $200K more. As of July 20 we are $176K away, with the window closing July 26.

2
Need Met — praise the Lord

Property Loan

$1.8M (+ up to $200K more)

This is the loan portion of the $2.3M property purchase. As a young fellowship we don’t yet have the financial history a conventional bank requires — so the original path forward was private faith-based lenders, likely at commercial rates. The Lord answered earlier and more directly than expected: a private 0% interest loan covering the full $1.8M. In July the same brother extended the opportunity to borrow $200K more, lowering the remaining cash need in Need #1 above — and on July 19 he confirmed the loan carries no payments for the first year, which is what allows monthly commitments over the next 12 months to count toward the goal.

3

Sewer Connection Bond

~$2.2M (was ~$4.0M)

The property is on septic; the city requires sewer for assembly use. The nearest line is 3,300 ft away. This is a 5-year reimbursable capital project for the local utility district — we front it, they pay us back. Update (July 12): the board has determined this miracle is not required to complete the purchase — building is a couple of years out, and the sewer isn’t needed until we build.

Where we stand

The Three Needs

Updated as the Lord moves — transparency so the family can pray with specific numbers in mind.

Offerings Committed to Cash Down & Setup

Final stretch — $176K to go
$674K of $850K · 79%
  • Cash given $199K
  • Commitment cards $400K
  • Commitments online $75K

Covers the down payment, commercial tent, site improvements & parking, tent interior, permits & engineering, and furniture / chairs / A⁄V so we can meet on day one. The original $1.2M target has dropped to $850K: costs came in lower than planned, and the lender extended the opportunity to borrow $200K more. As of July 20 we are $176K away, with 6 days left.

Property Loan

Need met — praise the Lord
5 of 5 stages complete
  1. Documents prepared
  2. Lenders engaged
  3. Term sheet
  4. Approval
  5. Funded

A $1.8M private loan at 0% interest covers the purchase; in July the lender extended the option to borrow up to $200K more, which is what lowered the cash need in Need #1 above. On July 19 he confirmed the loan carries no payments for the first year — the reason monthly commitments over the next 12 months can count toward the remaining cash need.

Sewer Connection Bond

Not required before purchase
1 of 5 stages complete
  1. Feasibility confirmed
  2. Funder secured
  3. Utility agreement
  4. Engineering plans
  5. Bond secured

A ~$2.2M bond to bring sewer to the property (revised down from ~$4M). Tracked by milestone — 100% reimbursable by the local utility district over 5 years. Per the board (July 12): no longer required before purchase — building is a couple of years out, and the sewer isn’t needed until we build.

To get to Loomis $2.67M of $2.85M

94% of total goal

$2.85M = $2M property loan + $850K cash. The ~$2.2M sewer bond is deferred until building begins and isn’t counted here.

These three needs together make up Track 1 — now the only track, per the board’s July 12 decision. And the sewer bond is no longer required before purchase: if the remaining cash comes in by July 26, we move forward.

Proof of momentum

Answered Prayers & Open Doors

Recent doors the Lord has opened — small and large, in order.

  • Provision

Loan confirmed: no interest — and no payments for the first year

The brother providing the $1.8M property loan confirmed there will be no interest and no payments for a full year. For God to work in somebody’s heart like that is just amazing — and it’s what allows monthly commitments over the next 12 months to count toward the remaining cash need.

  • Answered prayer

Over 95 independent givers — nearly the whole fellowship

Typically 10–20% of a congregation gives to make things happen. At Foundry, 85–90% of the people who walk through the door have taken part in the Joshua Initiative. For a fellowship barely a year old — astounding, encouraging, miraculous.

  • Provision

Three-phase, 600-amp power already on the property

Checking the electrical on site, Pastor John opened the cabinet and found three-phase, 600-amp switchgear — capacity that would otherwise cost $150K–$250K and about four years of PG&E applications. We can put power anywhere on the property as the church-and-school vision unfolds.

  • Answered prayer

Board confirms: Track 1 only — and no sewer needed before purchase

Track 2 is off the table; the Lord has already provided enough. And since building is a couple of years out, the sewer bond is no longer required to complete the transaction. If the cash comes in, we go to Loomis this fall.

  • Provision

The lender extends the opportunity to borrow $200K more

The same brother providing the $1.8M property loan opened the door to $200K more — part of what brought the remaining cash need down to an estimated ~$227K as of Sunday.

  • Provision

Costs keep going down, not up — over $200K lower

As Perry and the team work through preparations, the cash target has dropped more than $200K. As Pastor John put it: as a contractor, he usually has to tell you the number goes up.

  • Provision

The full $1.8M property loan — provided at 0% interest

Miracle #2 is funded by a private 0% interest loan covering the full $1.8M — no bank, no commercial rate, no interest over the life of the loan.

  • Provision

Tent cost now ~$57K, with ~$20K recoverable

Down significantly from earlier estimates; the aluminum I-beams can be recycled later for roughly $20K back if we ever take the tent down.

  • Answered prayer

The congregation walked and prayed over the four acres

Prayer and planning held on site at 6:30 pm — songs, prayer, families on the land. The Lord met us there.

  • Provision

Sewer line only needs to be 15″ — not 36″

South Placer MUD confirmed the maximum pipe size. That single piece of clarity is the engineering reason the bond dropped from ~$4M to ~$2.2M.

  • Open door

Phase 1 EPA site assessment underway

A local environmental firm is on the ground — drainage, prior agricultural use, anything we need to know. Report back in a few weeks.

  • Provision

Sewer estimate cut nearly in half — from ~$4M to ~$2.2M

South Placer MUD’s revised figure once more project details were in hand.

  • Answered prayer

Loomis is open to the Phase 1 tent plan

City staff are warm to gathering on the property with a commercial tent while we build.

  • Open door

    Accessibility agreement finalized

We can now gather on the property — the next prayer and planning will be held there.

  • Provision

Tent vendor cut the cost significantly

Lowered the cash-down need to gather on the land from day one.

  • Answered prayer

    Loomis granted the sprinkler waiver

Saved substantial cost and skipped a major construction step.

  • Open door

A Christian civil engineer agreed to consult pro bono

Right when we needed seasoned eyes on the sewer-bond engineering.

Stand with us

Five Ways to Stand With Us

Many of you have asked, “How can I help?” Here are honest answers — take only the rung the Lord puts on your heart. Prayer stays the first call.

  1. Join Us in Prayer

This is the real work. We’re asking the Lord together for the next 70 days — for clarity, for the right doors to open, for His name to be honored in the outcome.

  2. Stay in the Loop

Brief, occasional updates as the Lord moves — answered prayers, open doors, and prayer needs. Never a pitch.

  3. Share the Story

Sometimes the person God wants to use is one share away. There’s a ready-made message, social buttons, and a downloadable image a little further down the page.

  4. Make a Commitment

After prayer (and ideally fasting), record what the Lord has placed on your heart — whether to pray, give, lend, connect, or commit to gather on the land. A lump sum or monthly for the next 12 months — monthly commitments count toward the goal in full, because the loan has no payments in year one. The discernment happens before the form; the form is just where it gets honored.

  5. Lend, Invest, Connect

The Lord provided the property loan through one relationship — and the road ahead (including the sewer bond when building begins) will take more of them, because we don’t yet have the bank history conventional lenders require. If you are — or you know — a lender, investor, or kingdom-minded partner, one introduction could be the door God uses. Reach out and we’ll take it from there.

  3. May 20, 2026

    Q&A Wednesday

Following the close of our Galatians study, the fellowship gathers for a transparent Q&A on the land and building project. (See the Q&A below.)

  4. May 31, 2026

    Sunday update

Updates from the week: the city confirms no fire sprinklers required in the tent (saving hundreds of thousands), Grace Community connection lowers the tent budget significantly, and the cash-raise target drops from $1.7M to $1.2M.

  5. June 2, 2026

    Accessibility agreement finalized

The secondary contract granting access to the property during the contract period is signed — opening the door to gather on the land while the prayer window is still open.

  6. June 4, 2026

    Sewer estimate revised down

South Placer MUD’s preliminary sewer-connection estimate drops from ~$4M to ~$2.2M as more project details come into focus — the largest line item on the project, nearly halved.

  7. June 14, 2026

    Prayer on the property

The fellowship gathers on the four acres for corporate prayer — the first time we meet together on the land.

  8. June 17, 2026

Property loan provided — Miracle #2 funded

A brother in our fellowship offers to loan Foundry the full $1.8M needed to purchase the property. The second of the three miracles is closed. The remaining $460K of the $2.3M purchase price is the 20% down payment, folded into Need #3.

  9. June 21, 2026

    Offering Commitments turned in

After two weeks of fasting and prayer, the congregation turned in Offering Commitments — at church and through the online commitment form — and leadership began discerning together how the Lord is providing.

  10. July 12, 2026

Sunday update — the final stretch

Costs drop and the lender extends the opportunity to borrow $200K more, leaving an estimated ~$227,000 of the cash need with 14 days left. The board confirms two decisions: Track 2 is no longer an option, and the sewer is not required before purchase. If the Lord provides the rest, Foundry is going to Loomis this fall.

  11. July 16, 2026

Prayer on the property — morning & evening

Two Thursday gatherings on the four acres to pray in the final stretch — 6:30 AM and 8:00 PM on the land.

  12. July 19, 2026

Sunday update — seven days to go

About $176,000 remains with seven days left. The lender confirms the property loan carries no interest and no payments for the first year — so monthly commitments for the next 12 months now count toward the goal (cards on seats at church; the online form has a monthly option). Over 95 independent givers have taken part — 85–90% of the fellowship — and a site visit reveals three-phase, 600-amp power already on the property, an answer to prayer worth $150K–$250K and years of PG&E process.

  13. July 26, 2026

    70-day window closes

The remaining cash is the final piece. If the Lord provides it, we complete the purchase and gather in Loomis this fall. If He doesn’t, we hold it open-handed and praise Him for the closed door.

Q & A

Questions & Answers

From the May 20 Q&A and follow-up updates. Click any question to expand.

Q1. What’s on the property today?

A functioning church building with 3,500 square feet of usable space — wraparound rooms on the outside (room for about 22 small classrooms if we wanted), plus full utilities (water, power, and a working septic system that will be converted to sewer). The land itself extends all the way to the back fence with a creek crossing the middle — significantly larger than what you see from the front.

Q2. Is there already ministry happening on the property?

Yes — and beautifully. A team of about 35 volunteers distribute food through the Placer Food Bank from this site every Thursday, and there is a long line of cars and families. The woman who runs that ministry is the one who opened the door to the sale. We have been clear with her: if the Lord brings us here, we want to partner with what He is already doing. It is a Deuteronomy 6 picture — vineyards we didn’t plant.

Q3. What is the long-term vision for the land?

We don’t fix our eyes on it, but here is what we see in our minds: the existing church building used for children’s and youth ministry; the tent eventually moved across the creek so a permanent sanctuary can be built where the tent stands today; an outdoor amphitheater for outdoor services and baptisms; a sports field for the kids. Long road. Right priorities first. But the Lord put a big property in our hands for a reason.

Q4. How is the cash actually coming in?

Three quiet paths, all running in parallel. (1) Offering cards handed out at church — you write what the Lord puts on your heart, pray over it at home, and turn it in. We don’t collect money at that moment; the cards just help us discern together what He is providing. (2) Checks and in-person giving through Foundry’s normal channels — tax-deductible, no different than any other Sunday. (3) The online commitment form for anyone who can’t be at the building or who prefers to commit digitally. Both the cards and the online form now take monthly commitments as well as one-time gifts. Pastor John does not see individual amounts on any of these paths — Jeff Miller, our board treasurer, handles the totals. That stays the same.

Q5. Can I commit monthly instead of a lump sum?

Yes — new as of July 19. A number of people have said, “I want to give more, but I can’t right now — it has to be monthly.” Because the property loan requires no payments for the first year, a monthly commitment over the next 12 months counts toward the remaining cash need in full: $300 a month counts as $3,600 toward the goal. Cards were placed on seats at church for exactly this, and the online commitment form has a monthly option as well.

Q6. How many people are actually giving toward this?

Over 95 independent givers so far — nearly 85 to 90% of the people who walk through the door. In denominational church world, the reality is that about 10 to 20% of a congregation gives to make things happen. For a fellowship barely a year old, this is astounding, encouraging, and miraculous.

Q7. How will you keep up with Bible teaching during this season?

Pastor John has adopted a new approach for Wednesday studies modeled after Martin Lloyd-Jones — bullet-point preparation instead of two fully-written sermons per week. This has reduced study time by more than half. The Bible study will continue through its current series without interruption.

Q8. What is our relationship like with the Chalet (our current venue)?

Excellent. Bosue has been a generous host and is now a friend. He is not interested in a long-term five-year arrangement, and he understands when we need to move events. We are grateful tenants and will continue to honor that relationship as long as we are here.

Q9. Are you opposed to traditional fundraising (bake sales, rummage sales, etc.)?

No — but realistically, traditional fundraising won’t move the needle on a ~$6M project. If we are short by a smaller amount at the end, those efforts can absolutely help bridge the gap. The primary call right now is prayer.

Q10. Will we be able to use the existing power and water on the property?

Yes — and far beyond what we hoped. The existing church on the property is fully operational with bathrooms, water, and power. And on a July site visit, Pastor John opened the electrical cabinet and found three-phase, 600-amp switchgear — capacity a site like this would normally need $150,000–$250,000 and about four years of PG&E applications to obtain. It means we can put power anywhere on the property as the vision for a church and school unfolds. A real answer to prayer.

Q11. Is there a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) already in place?

Yes. The property is zoned for religious assembly, which is a major win — rezoning can be a two-year battle. The existing CUP will need to be modified (not newly issued) to accommodate our larger attendance. We are working with the city on a modification rather than a fresh CUP.

Q12. When exactly do the 70 days start and end?

The 70 days begin from the May 17 announcement, not from the May 6 contract signing — this gives us roughly ten additional days. The window closes July 26, 2026.

Q13. Why 70 days specifically?

Seventy is a deeply significant number in Scripture: the elders Moses chose for counsel, the size of the Sanhedrin (plus two), and the disciples Jesus sent out (plus two). Practically, 70 days also gives us the legal runway to transition cleanly from Track 1 to Track 2 if needed, without forfeiting deposits or breaking the contract.

Q14. Is this project priority number one for the church now?

No. The vision of Foundry is not a building — it is exalting Christ through the maturing of His body. The building gets a lot of airtime because it requires practical action, but Bible teaching, care of the flock, and family come first. The congregation is invited (and asked) to remind leadership of this throughout the season.

Q15. There is an existing church building on the property — what happens to it?

It stays and we use it. It would likely become a youth building. The seller currently runs significant humanitarian work from the site (including a weekly food bank ministry). We will evaluate each of those programs against Foundry’s mission and vision before continuing or stepping back from any of them — no automatic commitments.

Q16. What banks have you talked to? What about Cass Bank?

We’ve approached at least eight banks plus a number of other lending agencies. Cass Bank (out of the Midwest, which specializes in churches) requires five years of financial history — we don’t qualify yet. We are now focused on private lenders and individuals who fund kingdom work directly.

Q17. What happens if God says no to Track 1?

We praise Him for keeping us out of something that wasn’t His will. Pastor John has stated plainly: a clear no will actually be a relief, because it means God closed a door we shouldn’t walk through. Update (July 12): the board has decided Track 2 is no longer an option. With the property loan in place and the down payment nearly raised, the Lord has already provided enough — if we take this property, it will be as Foundry Bible Church, Track 1. If He doesn’t provide the rest, we hold it open-handed and let Him decide.

Q18. Do we need the sewer (Miracle #3) in place before we can buy the property?

No — not anymore. The board decided in July that because it will take a couple of years to get to the point of building, the sewer connection isn’t needed until we build. The purchase can move forward without it. Miracle #3 still matters — it’s just no longer a condition of going to Loomis. If the remaining cash comes in, we go.

Q19. Will we have access to the property before close of escrow?

Yes — we are finalizing an accessibility agreement (with a negotiated monthly fee) that allows the congregation onto the property for specific approved events. The first will be a corporate prayer walk around the land. We hope to have signed access within two to three weeks.

Q20. When would Foundry actually build a permanent building?

No fixed timeframe. We will live in the tent until the Lord provides enough margin to build responsibly — just as a young family lives in an apartment before buying a house. Pulling the trigger early on a building would upset everything else.

Q21. What can we be excited about and pray for right now?

The final stretch. As of July 20 we are $176K away from completing the cash need, with the window closing July 26. The property loan is fully in place — now confirmed at no interest and no payments for the first year — over 95 independent givers have taken part, monthly commitments for the next 12 months now count toward the goal, and the property turns out to already carry three-phase, 600-amp power. Please join us in prayer over these final 6 days. If He provides, we’re going to Loomis this fall.
